About A Very Present Presence

A Very Present Presence is the story of Alice, a middle-aged professional, mother and wife who finds herself at a crossroads. She tries to escape impending personal crisis by fleeing her home and kids and retreating to a beloved family getaway. Her efforts are thwarted, unexpectedly, by the ghost of her eccentric Great Aunt Nell, who claims she has been sent to help take the weight off Alice’s shoulders. As Nell shares more of the family story, Alice comes to a realization that her "problem" has roots far deeper than she ever imagined.

This show has everything: ghosts; time-travel, young love, craven lobbyists, protesting feminists, and tricky family relationships. It’s fun and thought-provoking, and we hope you'll join us for this adventure!

Pipeline Playwrights

As a producing and writing collective, we work together to support, present, and promote the work of women playwrights. We believe theater should reflect the reality of daily life while exploring the infinite variety of our collective experiences as women. Our goal is to write and produce plays that communicate truths that bind us all together in community. In addition to three of the original co-founders, Ann Timmons, Jean Koppen, and Patricia Connelly, Pipeline Playwrights now includes Nicole Burton and Crystal Adaway.

Even though we are now more spread out geographically, we continue to meet together to nurture each other’s creative work, and together we produce readings of not only our new works, but works by other women playwrights.
